Project: Basement and Bedroom

We had three other remediators before BBE. If you are new to this, it's really, really frightening. It's expensive. Some remediators sound like used car salesmen. Often, when they are done, you are not. You have to move on to the 'rebuilding' phase, which is another large expense. Trust me- you only want to do this once. Our third experience involved 4 days in a hotel that turned into 12, and it was a total failure. The bottom line is we now have had several very expensive 'lessons' to calibrate us. Then we found BBE and Nelson. We had roof and subsequent water damage to a bedroom. We also had other issues- many created by a prior crew- to our 3000 square foot basement. They actually made the original mold problem worse (dishwasher to basement water leak). They did not use containment and spread spores everywhere. We ended up having to gut the ENTIRE basement. That brings up an important point. In our first attempt, we at least realized that remediation is not easy even when done right. BUT- we never expected it could get worse! Nelson was the only one to use 'containment' as he and his crew worked. They are serious about it. The difference between how BBE approaches the job and the other three remediators was eye opening! There's often demolition involved. Remediators do NOT rebuild, they- by definition- have to take it apart. If you can't see it, you can't clean it. Where BBE did demolition, it was done 'gently', with an eye towards making it easier to put back together. I can't stress how valuable that is. Nelson was very involved in possible effects to family members by any chemicals he needed to use. He made sure we vetted every approach (we have a chemically sensitive son). In short, BBE met our every expectation: - BBE left the place spotless. Nelson and his crew were always extremely helpful. - You can take Nelson at his word. - Every day we had a walk through to answer any questions. - He responds to phone calls in a timely manner. Best of all, he 'held our hands' through a total nightmare! The cost of remediation in general is high. BBE came in right in the middle of our three previous very expensive lessons. Again, there was simply no work comparison. Our only regret is we didn't find BBE first- it would have saved us so much time, money and stress.

Project: Air Duct Cleaning

I Highly recommend this company, I knew I had issues with my air ducts but I wasn’t sure of how bad they were, turns out I had mold, they had to remove and replace the insulation within the air handler, they did an amazing job, they showed me step by step everything that was being done, lots of before and after pictures. I am very pleased with the work that was done, thank you for taking the time to explain everything and for being so thorough.

Project: Mold remediation

We hired Nelson and his crew to do a major mold remediation job in our unfinished basement. He and his very professional crew did an OUSTANDING job removing the mold and left the work area spotless. He worked closely with us in refining the details of the job and provided excellent advice on replacing insulation and avoiding future recurrence of the problem. He has done a great job responding to subsequent questions which have arisen. We give him our strongest possible recommendation.

Helping your family and business achieve a healthier indoor environment is our top priority.

HOW IT WORKS

Many companies claim that they know how to remediate mold. However, what they do is not according to industry standards and actually make things worse by spraying the mold affected areas with chemicals, and then use blowers to spread spores in nearby areas and that's it. But that's not how it works, according to the EPA, even dead mold causes the same health problems that live mold does. Mold cannot be removed solely by cleaning the affected surfaces. For successful mold remediation, the mold contaminated material must be physically removed followed by the proper cleaning steps. In many cases, the mold is hidden within wall cavities or in inaccessible areas where it cannot just be cleaned, fogged, or sprayed. That’s when the removal of the actual contaminated material is crucial.

If you suspect that you have mold in your home, and that you or someone in your family has been exposed to mold, we suggest you first hire an IEP (Indoor Environmental Professional) such as a mold inspector or an industrial hygienist to assess your home. Once you receive their written report with recommendations, we will carefully review it and offer our services to help you take the next steps in implementing the recommended protocols. An experienced member of our team will visit your home or business in a timely fashion to evaluate the mold situation and/or HVAC system(s) cleaning needs, and will provide you with verbal and written information regarding the project and associated costs. Subsequently, Better Breathing Environmental will then work closely with your IEP and will adhere to their report. We will base the project on their recommendations to achieve a thorough and successful mold remediation and HVAC system cleaning following their protocols. To ensure that the remediation plan has been completed effectively, post-remediation testing by your IEP is always recommended.

OBJECTIVE

When it comes to mold and microbial growth, the objective in many cases can vary based on several factors such as the type of structure being remediated, the health conditions of the occupants and cost associated but the most common targets should include:

Helping the customer understand the problems that create moisture or uncontrolled
humidity so they can take the proper action.

Properly and safely remediate the mold and the microbial growth by removal and
not just cleaning, spraying or fogging.

Small particle cleaning to remove contaminants and mycotoxins by methods of air
scrubbing, fogging, HEPA vacuuming and wiping all affected surfaces and items.
